Project Overview
The interesting thing about this report is that I was assigned to do the task without being provided by the data! A data analysis task without the data! However, my research background directed my towards the exact place I shall go to: ELSEVIER's SciVal. The data was imported and journal classifications(by quartile) were added to the data, so I scraped a data set that is not available on the web for my specific objective.
The data was tidy and had variables defining each publication well-enough to let me 1. Compare each department research output to the average of the faculty, 2. Comment on the research performance of the faculty by itself, and 3. Compare each department performance to the average in their field, using field weighted metrics.
In the exploratory data analysis (EDA) section, I explored all the possible relationships between the different variables in the data. All the interesting relationships are listed and justified in the Wrap-up EDA section..
No kind of inference was applied, as we have the full data of the population of interest, no sampling were involved
The whole process (from being assigned to do the task to handling the final report) took only 24 hours.
